Sharmila describes SC, ST Bill as drama

2012:  Smt. Sharmila, who has been
undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf YSR Congress Party chief
Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, described as big drama the Government’s SC, ST sub
plan Bill.

If the Government was
sincere about the welfare of SCs and STs and wanted to stop the diversion of their
sub plan funds, the Act should be implemented across the country, Smt. Sharmila
told a huge public meeting at Devarakadra in Mahabubnagar district on Sunday.

The Congress
leadership’s sudden love towards the SCs and STs was only hypocritical and it
was a big drama being enacted by Congress leaders ahead of possible elections,
she said, adding that the Act was only aimed at garnering SC and ST votes.

Smt. Sharmila remarked
that Dr.YSR distributed 20.60 lakh acres of forest land to tribal people during
his regime with 3.3 lakh acres being distributed in a single day besides
waiving Rs.1100 Cr loans to 17 lakh SCs.

Smt. Sharmila said the
Government has miserably failed in constructing new houses for the SCs and STs
or distribute land to them in the last three years. It has also failed to
provide irrigation facilities to the land distributed to them by Dr. YSR, she
observed.
