ban of Sakshi channel’s telecast - Journalists stage
rallies and dharnas - Democrats slam the
Government’s behaviour
Protests are being staged throughout the state against the ban on Sakshi
news channel. Leaders of journalist unions and public organisations and
democrats held agitations and rallies in various places of AP, demanding
immediate resume of the channel’s telecast.
A huge dharna was
conducted by journalists in front of collectorate at Ongole of Prakasam district,
demanding restart of Sakshi channel’s telecast. Democrats slammed the behaviour
of the Government towards the media. Public organisations and democrats
cautioned TDP not to be under the false impression that power was permanent.
Leaders from various political parties also participated in this dharna.
Journalists held a
protest in Bapatla of Guntur district and submitted a memorandum to the MRO.
Journalists protested in Narsaraopet. Slogans were raised against AP CM
Chandrababu Naidu, demanding manifesto promises to be kept.
Journalists held a
bike rally in Visakhapatnam district. They cautioned that the movement would be
taken to national level if telecast of Sakshi cannel was not immediately
resumed. A rally was held from Gandhi’s statue of GVMC to the collectorate of
the district. Memoranda were submitted to additional collector CP Khan,
collector Yuvaraj. A rally was held from Ambedkar’s statue in Padia to the
sub-collector’s office. Then a memorandum was submitted to PO Harinarayana.
Journalists protested in Madhurawada demanding resume of Sakshi channel’s
telecast. A dharna was staged in Pendurthi and human chain was formed. Then a
memorandum was submitted to the MRO.
Journalists held a
dharna in front of collectorate in Vizianagaram. A human chain was formed. They
submitted a memorandum to the collector, requesting for telecast of Sakshi
channel.
State president of
Mala Mahanadu, Chengaiah led a protest in Tirupati. A memorandum was submitted
to the statue of BR Ambedkar.
Journalists of print
and electronic media held agitation in front of the MRO office in YSR district’s
Soyamammilla, demanding Sakshi TV’s telecast to be resumed. Local public
organisations extended their support to the dharna. Journalists held a huge
rally in Badvel. Journalists rallied to MRO office of Proddutur and submitted a
memorandum to the MRO.
