Pondur gives grand welcome to YS Jagan

Srikakulam, Pondur: It was a moment of nostalgia for the leader of opposition Andhra Pradesh and YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when he arrived at Pondur, as part of his successful mass contact initiative Praja Sankalpa Yatra.
On coming to know that YS Jagan was visiting Pondur , the renowned Pondur AFKK Khadi Handloom Sangham put up an exhibition of their weaves and the handloom machinery near Ambedkar Junction. Upon reaching the place he was welcomed by the Ponduru Khadi workers who told him that his late father and former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy would always wear their khadi dhotis .
They also said their khadi was always in demand in those days but now the demand for khadi has lost its sheen and it was becoming difficult for them to continue this tradition as there are no takers for this fabric.
They had also shared they were living in dire poverty, while many of the main master weavers have left their traditional livelihoods in search of better jobs as there are no takers for this fabric .

After listening to them YS Jagan assured them and said that weavers would be a part of welfare governance under Rajanna Rajyam. He said that centres like Pondur which were celebrated for their pre-eminence in weaving will be revived and they will see better days as they did at the time of Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure.
YS Jagan also spent time listening to the problems of National Award winner Korukonda Sarojini and AFKK Sangham head G K Prasad , Secretary K Chinnammadu and other weavers before leaving Pondur.
