Nov 1 will be observed as State Formation Day

Hyderabad, Oct 31: Protesting against the TDP government decision to shift the date of State formation day to June 2, YSR Congress has said that the Party will observe November 1 as the Formation Day to honour the sentiments of the Telugu people.
“The State Reorganisation Bill has been categorical that Telangana is being carved out of Andhra Pradesh state and there is no logic as to why the State Formation Day should be shifted. Telangana was born on June 2 and not Andhra Pradesh. Being a strong votary for an integrated state, YSR Congress feels that November 1 should be observed as the State Formation Day,” party senior leader Dr MV Mysoora Reddy told reporters here on Friday.
History shows that Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh continue to observe November 1 as the State Formation Day even as Uttarkhand, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh celebrate the Formation Day on their respective days of coming into being as separate states.
“It is logical for Telangana to observe June 2 as its Formation Day as it was the newly formed 29th State but Andhra Pradesh has been in existence and there is no need to change its day of Formation. To protest against the State decision and to safeguard the interests and sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress will observe November 1 as the State Formation Day,” he said.
