Local body polls a prelude to 2014 elections
10 Jun 2013 10:14 AM

Hyderabad,
June 10, 2013: Describing the ensuing local bodies’ elections as a prelude to
the 2014 general elections, YSR Congress has said that the ruling Congress and
TDP will be rejected outright by the people as they are vexed with the
government policies and fed up with the indifference of the main opposition
party.
“YSR
Congress is gearing up for the polls and has chalked out its strategy to
highlight the failures of Congress government and its unholy nexus with
opposition TDP. We are sure that people will express their feelings and give us
a big mandate,” party MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy told reporters here on
Sunday.
The
two parties tried hard to conduct the MPTC and ZPTC elections on non-party
basis but had to budge due to the apex court ruling and are now panicky as
their popularity ratings are on the slide while YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is getting
much of the public support, he said.
“These
elections will be a trend setter to the next general election and will show
which Party stands where. We
have chalked out strategy to go to the polls with
all earnestness to expose the anti-people policies of the Congress government
and the secret support it has been receiving from TDP,” he said.
We
are taking the elections seriously and will fight them with all seriousness in
all the three regions. Our Honorary President YS Vijayamma will hold at meeting
of all coordinators, district committee and panchayat committee members of the
four districts of Rayalaseema and Nellore on June 14.
On
June 16 she will hold a similar meeting of coastal Andhra leaders at
Vizianagaram and will address meetings in each of the districts in Telangana,
he said.
We
will fight the elections seriously and will leave no stone unturned to secure
victory as Congress and TDP stand exposed of their flaws on one hand and the
cadre and leaders are leaving both the parties, he said.
The
undemocratic arrest of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the unwarranted diatribe on YSR
family members have been closely watched by the people and the opportunity will
be coming to them to express their verdict which will be a big blow to Congress
and TDP, he said.
Meanwhile,
YSRCP has criticized the legislative affairs minister D Sridhar Babu for
turning his official quarter for business use.
