Kakinada stands as a testimony to TDP's misrule

Kakinada: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the state was number one in Ease of Corruption and not in Ease of Doing Business. He said Kakinada stood as a testimony to TDP's misrule. Publicity was the most dominant factor of TDP government and not the welfare of the state, he observed.

Speaking at a massive public meeting here today, YS Jagan said East Godavari was the victim of state Chief Minister Chandrababu's widespread corruption. Though the district had given 14 MLAs in the last elections to TDP, the party still bought YSRCP MLAs just like animals in the marketplace. He pointed out that out of the 19 MLAs in the district, 17 were with Chandrababu, but he has not done anything for the district. "Kakinada has not been made a Smart City, but the corruption has taken a smarter route."

YS Jagan said nothing has changed in Kakinada, TDP leaders continue to grab public and private lands and even the gambling clubs were functioning as usual. Every month TDP leaders get their commission from these clubs, he said. After taking Rs 500 crores for the development of Kakinada, the TDP government has not even spent Rs 50 crores. The drinking water project initiated by former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy has remained incomplete because of the TDP government’s neglect, he said.

YS Jagan recalled that Dr YSR had constructed 13,000 houses for the poor in Kakinada urban area, but what has Chandrababu done, he asked and pointed out that the AP CM had not even built a single house. There was lack of basic facilities in Kakinada government hospital, he mentioned to the large gathering and added that a single bed was provided for two patients in the hospital.

YS Jagan said that while the status of AP was deplorable, the AP CM went to Singapore and presented falsehoods to the people there. He said Chandrababu had told to a delegation in Singapore that electric vehicles were plying in Amaravati, while the reality was that not even a single permanent building was constructed there.

The people's leader wondered how was AP featured in Ease of Doing Business. He said though Chandrababu claimed that Rs 20 lakh crores of investments have come to AP through the partnership summits and 40 lakh jobs have been created, the fact was that not even Rs 20,000 crores of investment has come to the state.

YS Jagan pointed out to the people that due to the hike of power tariff from Rs 3.75 per unit to Rs 8.75 per unit the marble industry collapsed completely. The granite industry in Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor and Prakasam districts are on the verge of closure while the royalty for the industry doubled. "Is this what ease of doing business all about? It is not Ease of Doing Business, it is Ease of Corruption."

Highlighting the lapses of the TDP government and Chandrababu, the YSRCP Chief rhetorically said that Chandrababu was number one is diluting the fee reimbursement scheme; number one in making rural youth alcoholics; number one in hiking fuel rates; number one in cheating every community; number one in attacking those who question the government; number one in land grabbing; number one in cheating people; and number one in corruption.
