I Salute Our MPs Who Resigned For SCS to AP: YS Jagan

Mortha (West Godavari District): Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy complimented the five YSRCP MPs who resigned their Lok Sabha seats. Addressing the media here during the course of his mass contact initiative, Praja Sankalpa Yatra, the YSRCP chief said that had all the 25 MPs of the state resigned, the Centre would have climbed down. The YSRCP had only 5 MPs and they resigned demanding Special Category Status to the state. The TDP was afraid to take a clear stand and was clearly rattled about the resignations of the MPs, he said.

YS Jagan observed that it would be YSRCP's good fortune if TDP decided to put up candidates in the by-polls. It would show who was in favour of SCS to AP and who opposed it. He added that since the MPs had resigned 14 months ahead of the general election, by-polls were now inevitable.

YS Jagan said that Chandrababu bought over opposition MPs and MLAs like cattle. Why were these MPs and MLAs not disqualified, he asked? Chandrababu made 4 of these 23 MLAs ministers. Why does he not apply the anti-defection law and get them disqualified by the speaker, he asked.

The YSRCP chief remarked that Chandrababu lowered the level of politics and people would lose faith in the political system if public life had such figures. Chandrababu practised politics of mud-slinging and slander to cover up his own corrupt, incompetent ways, the AP Leader of Opposition pointed out.
