Drop Pattiseema for Polavaram: Ambati Rambabu

Hyderabad: Describing the “Project Bata” of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as a grand success, YSR Congress has said it was the farmers who have expressed their opposition towards Pattiseema and favoured Polavaram and we demand that the public opinion should prevail.
“Pattiseema will spell doom to Polavaram and the multitude of farmers as there is no storage capacity available and it is being rushed through for the sake of kickbacks. If the State continues with the project, it will be death knell to it,” party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Saturday.
Brushing aside the allegations of TDP leaders leveled against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said, these remarks stem out of the fear of the massive support the Project Bata has received. They have no answers to the pointed questions raised by the Leader of Opposition and the farmers of Godavari and Krishna basins.
There is no explanation as to why Pattiseema which was not even mentioned in the manifesto or in any of the election speeches of Chandrababu Naidu had come up suddenly even as Polavaram was given the status of a national project.
“It is only for the sake of kickbacks that Pattiseema is taking precedence over Polavaram but it is against the interests of the farmers, who told in one voice during the Project Bata. To cover up this, the State has been launching a tirade against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that he is against Rayalaseema getting water.
The facts and figures were explained in detailed during the three-day Yatra and without completing the projects to store the flood waters how can the Godavari flood waters be diverted to Krishna basin and Rayalseema,” he said.
“We demand the TDP should refrain from personal attacks and take up Polavaram immediately besides dropping Pattiseema,” he said.
