Vijayawada: YSR Congress party (YSRCP) leader Malladi Vishnu today said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was trying to destroy the Hindu dharma. He criticized the TDP leaders for attacking the priests and temples across the State.
Speaking to media here today, he said that the TDP leaders humiliated a priest named Mallikarjuna Sharma, saying he was excavating temple treasures in East Godavari district. Recalling that the priest attempted suicide following the harassment by the TDP leaders, he said that the government was not taking any action against them.
Malladi Vishnu said that the investigations were not called for even after the ornaments were missing in the Tirumala Tirupati shrine. "The Hindu dharma is being attacked during Chandrababu rule so much so that the belongings of the deities were being stolen. The salaries of the priests have not been raised. Tirupati chief priest Ramana Deekshitulu was removed for questioning the irregularities by the State government," he observed.
The YSRCP leader demanded that an investigation should be carried out on the attack on Mallikarjuna Swamy and that Rs 25 lakh compensation should be given to his family.
