Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly and YSR Congress party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is conducting his mass contact initiative, Praja Sankalpa Yatra successfully in Vizianagaram district, accompanied by thousands of common people, party workers, leaders and well-wishers. He addressed a massive public meeting at Vizianagaram constituency here today.
YS Jagan said that while he was interacting with the locals in the constituency, they were saying that despite a single political party being elected to power in the last 30 years, no trace of development could be seen the constituency. For 17 years Ashok Gajapathiraju was a state cabinet minister and nearly three years he served as a Union minister, he added.
In nine years during Chandrababu's first term as CM, only Rs 3 crore was invested in Kotapalli project while late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy invested Rs 400 crore and completed 90% of its work, he mentioned. "After Chandrababu came to power in 2014, Chandrababu increased the project cost to derive commissions and went on to claim that it was all his work behind the project. During Rajanna Rajyam, the Janjavathi project, Asia's first rubber dam was constructed. Before Dr YSR became the CM, Vizianagaram did not even have a government junior college. He was instrumental in setting up the JNTU engineering college and the extension campus for Andhra University in the town," he said.
The YSRCP Chief launched a scathing attack against Chandrababu for not delivering on his promises of developing the town into a smart city. In 2014, Chandrababu said he would set up a food park, electronic hardware park, fine arts academy and a green field airport in the district. "While 12,000 employees are suffering due to the closure of jute mills in the town, Chandrababu imports gunny bags from Bangladesh.
YS Jagan said Chandrababu was involved in a new scandal by cancelling the Bhogapuram Airport tenders. "Why did Chandrababu prevent the Airport Authority of india from participating in the tender? Why does he want to allot the contract to private sector organizations?" he asked.
Speaking about the sorry state of healthcare in the district, he mentioned that out of the 5 lakh people who had suffered fever, 80,000 people had lost their lives. He added that out of the 27 ambulances in the district, only 10 were functional.
"Dr YSR inaugurated the Taraka Rama Theertha drinking water project with an investment of Rs 250 crore. But, in the last four years, there was no progress. The TDP leaders have been looting all resources like sand, cement, water, coal, granite etc across the State," he asserted.
"In the Dharma Porata Deeksha organised at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, Chandrababu was complaining against the same BJP which he had been romancing for four years. Why did Chandrababu not demand Special Category Status when the Planning Commission was active? Chandrababu said the completion of setting up the national educational institutions in the State would take 30 years, Why did he agree for it in the first place?" he asked.
The fact that there was no CBI inquiry against Chandrababu even after he had earned Rs 4 lakh crore in the last 4 years says it all about his friendship with the BJP, he said. YS Jagan added that despite the CAG's finding irregularities in the State government no inquiry was carried out. He recalled Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's comments in Lok Sabha over the ever-lasting friendship between BJP and TDP.
Asking the public to not spare illegal entities like Chandrababu, he explained the benefits of fee reimbursement scheme as part of the YSRCP Navarathnas.
