Boat tragedy exposed the negligence of Chandrababu Govt

Vijayawada: YSR Congress Party leader Velampalli Srinivas accused Chandrababu Naidu of focusing on constantly snooping on Leader of Opposition YS Jagan, while remaining completely clueless about the boat tragedy next door. He pointed a finger at Chandrababu Naidu saying that the TDP Government had not taken any punitive action, be it in the wake of the Godavari Pushkarams tragedy in which 30 people perished or the latest Krishna boat accident which claimed the lives of 21 innocent victims.
He said that merely announcing a committee was not the solution. The YSRCP demands action against the accused, including arrest of the guilty, he said, adding that cases should be filed and taken to their logical conclusion. Suspending an employee was of no help, he stated.
Srinivas said that there was a clear nexus between TDP leaders and the owners of the boat. Moreover, the real reason behind such incidents was the unchecked sand mining on the Krishna riverbed, he said, adding that ruling party leaders were behind the sand mining mafia. The latest boat tragedy exposed the negligence and incompetence of the Chandrababu Naidu government, Srinivas said.
The YSRCP leader accused Lokesh of deliberately raking up the Paradise Papers issue to deflect public attention. He asked him and other TDP leaders to show enough moral courage to pick up the gauntlet thrown by YS Jagan, who had offered to quit politics if Chandrababu Naidu could prove his allegations that he had a single penny in any off-shore account.
