Tadepalli, March 12: YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy said that YSRCP's agitation against the coalition government named as Yuvatha Poru is a grand success with students and unemployed youth across all 26 districts actively participating in the protest.
Appi Reddy remarked that within just ten months, widespread public discontent has surfaced against the Chandrababu government. He accused Chandrababu Naidu of side-lining his manifesto and deceiving people from all sections of society. Specifically, he pointed out that the government has withheld fee reimbursement funds, thereby harassing lakhs students and plunging poor and middle-class families into distress. Additionally, he stated that the youth have been cheated in the name of unemployment allowances of 3000 per month, which was made as an election promise.
He said that the 17 medical colleges established under former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's leadership have been rendered ineffective because Chandrababu wrote to the central government to reject additional medical seats at a time when other states are competing to secure them, questioning if there could be a more shameful act.
He emphasized that this is not the end but merely the beginning, promising more agitations in the coming days. Despite efforts by the police to obstruct protests in several areas, Appi Reddy noted that the party sought permissions for dharnas across all 26 districts by submitting letters to police officials and tirelessly pursuing approvals. However, he stated, that instead of granting permissions, the authorities attempted to suppress the movement. Raising concerns about democratic rights, he questioned whether citizens in a democratic country are denied the right to protest.
He affirmed that the programs were conducted peacefully with public support and challenged the government’s ability to stop the people if they rise in revolt. He urged the government to take note of the ground-level developments and respond accordingly.
