Guntur, June 29: YSRCP Student Wing State President Panuganti Chaitanya strongly condemned what he described as a coordinated smear campaign by the TDP and sections of the yellow media following the attack on YSRCP leaders during their visit to the Amaravati capital region. He said the YSRCP team had visited the area on the directions of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to examine the hardships faced by farmers over forced land acquisition and expose irregularities in the capital region. He stated that TDP workers, posing as farmers, attacked the visiting team with stones and eggs, damaged vehicles, and even assaulted police personnel who tried to intervene, while the government and its supportive media were now attempting to divert attention through false propaganda.
Rejecting reports describing him as a “rowdy-sheeter,” Chaitanya asserted that he is not a criminal but a responsible student leader who has consistently fought for students’ rights. He said the only cases against him arose from democratic protests, dharnas and student agitations, and not from any criminal activity. Declaring that he would not be intimidated by the “Red Book” politics, false cases or media campaigns, Chaitanya said every attempt to suppress him would only strengthen his resolve to continue fighting for students and the people under the leadership of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He demanded an immediate end to the misinformation campaign against him.
