YSRCP stages statewide protests against ABN remarks

Tadepalli, April 8: Acting on the directions of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the YSRCP party held peaceful protests across Andhra Pradesh condemning the derogatory remarks made by ABN Andhra Jyothi MD Vemuri Radha Krishna against women.
Party leaders stated that the comments had insulted women and lowered the standards of journalism. They said such remarks were unacceptable and demanded an immediate public apology. Protests were organised in several districts including Vijayawada, Guntur, Kurnool, Kadapa, Ongole, Visakhapatnam, Nellore and others, where party cadre gathered in front of ABN offices and raised slogans.

YSRCP leaders said the protests were peaceful, but alleged that police created obstacles, imposed restrictions and, in some places, resorted to force to prevent demonstrations. They also alleged house arrests of key leaders in certain districts.
Leaders including former ministers and MLAs criticised the remarks and said the coalition government was remaining silent on the issue. They stated that any attempt to insult women would not be tolerated.
The party reiterated that protests would continue until an apology is issued and warned of intensified agitation if no action is taken, stressing that protecting women’s dignity remains their priority.
