YSRCP Seeks Fair, Transparent Counting Process

New Delhi: A delegation of YSR Congress Party leaders met the Chief Election Commissioner and sought fair and transparent counting in Andhra Pradesh. Briefing the media after the team's interaction with the CEC, Rajya Sabha MP, V. Vijayasai Reddy stated that his party appealed to the EC to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process in the state. Similarly, YSRCP leaders also demanded a fair repoll in 7 booths Chandragiri constituency. Vijayasai Reddy pointed out that the YSRCP had brought the excesses of the TDP leaders to the notice of the ECI. Chandrababu posted an officer who worked in his secretariat as the Collector and is using him for carrying out these electoral malpractices, he said. The YSRCP MP recalled that on April 12, a day after polling in the state, the YSRCP candidate from Chandragiri, Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy, had complained to the Collector about electoral malpractices in 7 polling booths in his constituency.

Chevireddy had in his complaint stated that Dalits in these booths were not allowed to vote and that the Collector had in fact, threatened the polling official, Vijayasai Reddy added. The Collector did not pay heed to the complaints of the YSRCP candidate, he said.

The CEO was shocked at scenes he saw in the CCTV footage, Vijayasai Reddy revealed. He further stated that in the 2014 polls also, all votes in these polling were cast in favour of the TDP and that rigging was being done meticulously. The Rajya Sabha member further said that they sought action against Collector Pradyumna.
