YSRCP flays coalition remarks on RLI project

Ananthapuram, Jan 12: YSRCP has slammed the coalition government for its irresponsible remarks on the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation (RLI) project and took strong objection to the ruling party for calling it names instead of categorically spelling out its stand on the Telangana Chief Minister’s statement.
Speaking to the media here on Monday, former MLA S Visweswara Reddy said the silence of Chandrababu and the irresponsible remarks of his cabinet ministers only show that they are endorsing the statement of Revanth Reddy, who went on record in the Telangana Assembly.
While Chandrababu is silent on the issue, the Irrigation and Finance Ministers have been stating that RLI is a waste and a theft project, which is demeaning. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy started the RLI project to bring water to Rayalaseema from Srisailam.
The Finance Minister has been cherry-picking lines suitable to his argument and should answer why his government sanctioned Rs 190 crore when it claims the project is a waste. His remarks on the previous government sanctioning funds have no basis.
The project was conceived not only to provide water to Rayalaseema but also to provide drinking water to Nellore and Chennai.
Chandrababu has remained silent as his name figured in the cash-for-vote case and has yielded to all the demands of Telangana, allowing the neighbouring state to draw water at will. He also encouraged his Telangana cadre to file cases against RLI in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and failed to defend the project in the necessary measure.
Amaravati is being promoted and money is being funnelled into it at the cost of people from other regions, he said.
