YS Jagan pays tributes; YSRCP celebrates 538th Bhakta Kanakadasa Jayanti

Tadepalli, November 8: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid rich tributes to the revered saint-poet Sri Bhakta Kanakadasa on the occasion of his Jayanti, recalling his immense contribution to social harmony, equality, and spiritual literature.

Taking to X Platform, YS Jagan described Kanakadasa as a revolutionary devotee who broke barriers of caste and creed and championed the ideals of compassion, devotion, and social justice. “Sri Bhakta Kanakadasa’s life stands as proof that social transformation can be achieved through wisdom, devotion, and cultural expression. I bow in reverence to the saint who enriched society with the spirit of equality and devotion,” he said.

YSRCP celebrated the 538th Jayanti of Bhakta Kanakadasa at the party’s central office in Tadepalli. The programme was led by MLC and Party Central Office In-charge Lella Appi Reddy, with the participation of former MP Gorantla Madhav, YSRCP AP Kuruba Kuruma Sangham State President Gaddam Ramakrishna, and community leaders from various districts.

Leaders praised Kanakadasa as a pioneer who used literature as a powerful tool to fight caste discrimination and usher in social reform. They expressed gratitude to YS Jagan for upholding the values of equality, social empowerment, and dignity that Kanakadasa stood for, especially through policies that elevated BC, SC, ST, and Minority communities during his tenure.

Community representatives requested that a statue of Bhakta Kanakadasa and a community hall be constructed when YSRCP returns to power. Responding to the appeal, MLC Lella Appi Reddy assured that he would take the matter to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advancing social justice and empowerment.

“Walking in the footsteps of saints like Kanakadasa, YS Jagan has always ensured upliftment and representation for backward and marginalized communities. YSRCP will continue this mission with the same spirit,” he said.
