*Naidu claims Credit for houses built under YS Jagan’s tenure*

Tadepalli, March 31: YSRCP official spokesperson and former MLA Koramutla Srinivasulu strongly condemned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for indulging in blatant “credit theft” by falsely claiming that his government constructed and distributed 2.5 lakh houses to the poor. Addressing the media at the party central office in Tadepalli, he stated that not a single house constructed in the last two years belongs to the present government, and all the houses being distributed were actually completed during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He asserted that Naidu has not provided even a single square yard of land to the poor in two years, nor sanctioned any new houses, yet is falsely projecting himself as having delivered large-scale housing. Srinivasulu said that even the 3 lakh houses distributed last year were part of a publicity stunt, as those houses, including those handed over in Annamayya district, were built during 2021–22 under the YSRCP government. He further pointed out that the recent claim of distributing 2.5 lakh houses is another fabrication, as out of these, 1 lakh are TIDCO houses completed earlier under YSRCP, while the remaining 1.5 lakh are also houses constructed during the previous government. He criticized Naidu for merely giving “stage updates” to already completed houses and falsely claiming them as new achievements, adding that the house pattas in the hands of beneficiaries, bearing YS Jagan’s name, stand as direct evidence.
Srinivasulu also highlighted that Municipal Administration Minister Narayana himself admitted on the floor of the Assembly that 1,77,546 TIDCO houses were completed during the YSRCP tenure. He challenged Naidu to show even a single beneficiary who received land as promised in the 2024 election manifesto, where assurances were given to provide 3 cents in rural areas and 2 cents in urban areas. He said the coalition government has done nothing except spread false narratives, take credit for projects completed earlier, and conduct ribbon-cutting events for works executed during YS Jagan’s tenure. He further alleged that instead of creating new assets, the government is facilitating the diversion of valuable lands to benamis in the name of industrial development, while completely neglecting housing for the poor.
Detailing the achievements of the YSRCP government, he said that between 2019 and 2024, 31.19 lakh house sites were distributed to women across 71.8 thousand acres under the “Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu” scheme, with the total market value exceeding Rs. 1.15 lakh crore. Over 17,000 YSR and Jagananna colonies were developed, effectively creating new townships. Permissions were granted for more than 19 lakh houses, along with an additional 2.62 lakh TIDCO houses. By the end of the tenure, over 9 lakh houses were completed and handed over, while more than 8 lakh houses were in various stages of construction, including 1.28 lakh houses with completed slabs and around 99,000 at slab stage. He emphasized that even though many of these houses were nearing completion, stage updates could not be carried out due to the election code.

He concluded by stating that it was only after YSRCP came to power in 2019 that justice was delivered to TIDCO beneficiaries, ensuring that houses were completed along with full infrastructure before allotment. Out of the identified requirement of 2,62,212 TIDCO houses, 1,77,546 were completed and nearly one lakh houses were distributed during YS Jagan’s tenure, with the remaining works reaching up to 80% completion. In contrast, he said, in 21 months of coalition rule, not even basic slab work has been taken up for TIDCO houses anywhere in the state, exposing the complete lack of commitment and the extent of false propaganda by the present government.
