*TDP coalition rule a curse for women: Nagamalleswari*

Tadepalli, Oct. 6: YSRCP spokesperson Nagamalleswari called coalition rule a curse for women, saying parents fear whether their daughters will return home safely. Addressing the media at the party headquarters, she cited government figures for January to December 2025, which recorded 16,347 offences against women, or approximately 45 a day, and 1,879 POCSO cases, while the rulers remained absorbed in publicity.

She highlighted the rape of a ten-year-old schoolgirl by a 45-year-old auto driver in Railway Kodur; a woman raped and seriously injured by two youths inside her VAMBAY Colony home; and two motorcyclists obstructing and harassing a woman Sub-Inspector travelling with her family in Vijayawada. She condemned the lawlessness of ganja gangs.

She also cited an Anakapalli girl murdered after police ignored her parents’ complaint and failed to register an FIR; the rape of a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in Hindupur; women stripped and beaten in Home Minister Anitha’s constituency; and misconduct towards a ten-year-old in Ravulapalem involving a TDP leader who heads a school parents’ committee, as described by the girl’s family. The removal of BC hostel girls by an official, she said, exposed failures even within welfare institutions.

Nagamalleswari demanded that Anitha explain how many victims had received justice and why families were given no reassurance. She questioned why felicitations, publicity events, film functions and sports received attention while survivors’ families awaited visits.

Recalling the TDP’s criticism of Y.S. Jagan’s Disha app, she demanded answers about the effectiveness of replacement apps, policing and intelligence. She asked what protective laws and measures Chandrababu had introduced in 26 months, citing offences in the constituencies of Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, Lokesh and Anitha. Women, she warned, would teach this failed government a lesson.
