*Statewide protests defy police curbs as anger over ‘Two Years of Betrayal’ intensifies*

Tadepalli, June 12: Andhra Pradesh witnessed a massive wave of protests as the YSR Congress Party organized demonstrations across all 175 Assembly constituencies under the campaign "Two Years of Chandrababu's Betrayal & Backstabbing." Thousands of party leaders, cadre, women, farmers, youth, students, and unemployed aspirants participated in rallies, bike processions, and symbolic protests, accusing the coalition government of abandoning its election promises, including the much-publicised "Super Six" guarantees, while burdening the people with rising prices and unemployment and allegedly compromising the integrity of DSC-2025.
The protests featured black balloon releases, burning of coalition manifesto copies and effigies, and display of placards highlighting unfulfilled promises and growing public hardship. YSRCP leaders said the overwhelming participation reflected widespread public anger against what they described as anti-people governance and betrayal of the electoral mandate.
The day also witnessed tension in several parts of the state after police allegedly prevented protest programmes. In Tadipatri, former MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy was placed under house arrest and later staged a dharna, alleging political discrimination. In Rajamahendravaram, police stopped a rally led by former MP Bharat, prompting party leaders to stage a sit-in protest. In Visakhapatnam North, district president KK Raju accused the police of acting in favour of the ruling party after YSRCP workers were prevented from joining the protest, while in Visakhapatnam South, a confrontation broke out after police blocked a demonstration led by former MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar.
YSRCP stated that peaceful democratic protests were being suppressed through police restrictions, but asserted that such actions would not deter its movement. The party reaffirmed its commitment to continue its struggle until the government is held accountable for two years of broken promises and betrayal of the people.
