Skill case cannot be closed while bail plea is pending

Kakinada, Dec 24: YSRCP leader and former minister Kurasala Kannababu on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for misusing power to dilute and close serious cases pending against him.
Speaking to the media at his camp office in Kakinada, Kannababu said the latest claim of “mistake of facts” was a new excuse to escape legal scrutiny.
He said cases in which Chandrababu is out on bail cannot be withdrawn when a petition challenging the bail is still pending before the Supreme Court. He questioned how the CID could move to close such cases and whether this process is acceptable in a democracy. If there was no wrongdoing, he said, Chandrababu should prove his innocence in court instead of using shortcuts.
Kannababu said the skill development case involved a well-planned scam, with public money allegedly diverted through shell companies. He said enforcement agencies had earlier found evidence, made arrests, and even seized assets. He asked whether the CID would now tell the Enforcement Directorate that there was no evidence at all.
He further said that changing governments cannot change facts. Using state machinery and public money to secure clean chits sends a dangerous message, he warned. Kannababu also asked what answer would be given to central agencies if cases are quietly closed with CID support, adding that the public is closely watching these actions
