Fear of YSRCP drives coalition to sideline council

Tadepalli, April 5: YSRCP MLC Tumati Madhava Rao alleged that the coalition government is bypassing the Legislative Council out of fear of YSRCP and undermining constitutional systems to push its agenda.
Speaking to the media at the party central office in Tadepalli on Sunday, he said the government is avoiding discussion in the Council as it fears that land scams and corruption in contracts in the capital region would be exposed. He criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for making contradictory claims on Amaravati, stating that while a report submitted to a Delhi tribunal said the capital would take 100 years to complete, he is now claiming it will be ready by 2028-29, misleading the public.
Madhava Rao said the government is sending proposals directly, sidelining the Council. He noted that TDP leaders had earlier used the Council politically during the three capitals bill but are now ignoring the same institution after coming to power. He demanded clarity on whether what was introduced is a bill or a resolution.
He said Amaravati is being driven by real estate interests and questioned how a capital can be built without industries or jobs. He warned against attempts to create caste and regional divisions.
He added that while the government claims lack of funds for salaries and welfare, it speaks of spending lakhs of crores on Amaravati. He said the MAVIGUN concept proposed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is gaining public support as a practical alternative.
