*Red-Book policing replaced rule of law in AP*

Tadepalli, March 3: YSRCP Legal Cell President M. Manohar Reddy criticised that the police system in the state has degenerated into a tool of political vendetta under the coalition government, functioning like activists of the ruling party rather than impartial law enforcers. Addressing the media at the party’s central office, he said constitutional values have been trampled and a so-called “Red Book Constitution” is being implemented in the name of political governance, with illegal cases being foisted on YSRCP leaders and cadres. Despite repeated High Court warnings and contempt observations, he said there has been no corrective change in police conduct.
Manohar Reddy stated that two different standards of law are being applied, royal treatment for ruling party leaders and harassment, arrests, third-degree methods, and public parading for opposition workers. He claimed that even when TDP activists allegedly intimidate officials or engage in serious misconduct, they are granted station bail or issued 41A notices at their homes, while YSRCP activists are arrested for minor or fabricated charges, beaten, and marched on roads in violation of High Court guidelines. He criticized the explanation reportedly given in court that lack of vehicles led to the accused being walked to court, calling it a blatant disregard for constitutional safeguards.
Referring to the attack on former minister Ambati Rambabu, he said that despite an attempt on his life and large-scale vandalism of his residence and office, the attackers were granted station bail while Rambabu was booked in as many as 36 cases and sent to jail. He described it as clear political vendetta and selective policing.
Highlighting the situation in Palnadu district, particularly in Gurazala, he stated that YSRCP activists are being driven out of villages, assaulted during visits for festivals or family events, and implicated in cases while ruling party supporters receive protection. He cited incidents in Telukutla and Julakallu villages where opposition workers were allegedly beaten, paraded, or forced to flee, while attackers faced only bailable sections. He accused Gurazala CI Avula Bhaskar of acting like a TDP cadre and warned that the party would pursue legal action against officers misusing their authority.
Manohar Reddy concluded that law and order has collapsed under political interference, courts are being disregarded, and the police force is being weaponized against the opposition. He asserted that YSRCP will not remain silent and will initiate sustained legal battles against what he termed unconstitutional and partisan policing in the state.
