No safety for women in coalition rule

Tadepalli, August 17: YSRCP leader and Vijayawada Mayor Rayani Bhagyalakshmi condemned the coalition government’s failure to curb rampant atrocities against women, accusing ruling party MLAs and leaders of perpetrating harassment while Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu remains inactive. Speaking to media here on Sunday, she highlighted a depraved culture where women face sexual harassment for basic needs like hostel seats.
Citing cases involving MLAs Koneti Adimulamu and Kuna Ravi Kumar, she questioned, “Is there a more despicable government?” Home Minister Anita neglects duties, Pawan Kalyan prioritizes films, and Chandrababu ignores the crisis, she charged, announcing state-wide protests by YSRCP.
Women teachers, like KGBV Principal Soumya in Srikakulam, endure mental torment of MLAs, with police inaction despite evidence. The scrapping of the Disha App has left women defenceless, unlike Jagan Mohan Reddy’s responsive system.
Atrocities span across the districts of Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram, Anantapur, and beyond, with ruling party leaders harassing, raping, and exploiting women, including a dalit girl and a seven-year-old, without consequences.
The dismantled secretariat system forces women to face vile demands for basic services. “YSRCP will fight this anarchy,” Bhagyalakshmi vowed, demanding justice.
