TDP MLAs turn predators

Nellore, August 17: In a stark indictment of the current administration, Kakani Poojita, Working President of the YSR Congress Party’s Women’s Wing, asserted that women in Andhra Pradesh face dire threats even from TDP MLAs, underscoring a regime devoid of protection for half the population.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, she lambasted Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for shielding his party’s MLAs, whom she branded as modern-day demons perpetrating atrocities against women, while his proclamations on women’s safety ring hollow as outright falsehoods.
Poojita highlighted the coalition government’s blatant failures, where evidence of TDP leaders’ misconduct, including explicit videos, surfaces without consequence, allowing coalition figures to morph into predators terrorizing women across the state.
She emphasized the human toll: women, regardless of education or status, endure unchecked harassment, with police forces preoccupied by enforcing the so-called “Red Book Constitution” rather than safeguarding lives. This negligence extends to government employees facing abuse from TDP MLAs themselves, fostering an environment where criminals operate with impunity, confident that no repercussions will follow.
Delving deeper into the crisis, Poojita decried the coalition’s diversionary tactics amid allegations directly against MLAs, including inaction on inquiries and smears labeling complainants as YSRCP affiliates, a shameful low that erodes societal trust. She recalled the empowerment once provided by the Disha App, which enabled women to move freely, now neutered and renamed Shakti App under the current regime, leaving women fearful of stepping out. In Nellore district alone, coalition MLAs prioritize irrelevant rhetoric over women’s security, with even TDP women workers voicing despair at the lack of protection, painting a picture of systemic decay after 15 months of rule without a single stringent punishment for offenders.
At its core, this is a people-centric failure, Poojita argued, where society’s well-being hinges on women’s safety—a principle the government must urgently grasp, as no administration can endure without ensuring it. On behalf of the YSRCP Women’s Wing, she demanded immediate arrests and severe penalties for those harassing or assaulting women, warning that Chief Minister Naidu’s inaction will provoke widespread agitation and a mass women’s movement against the coalition’s blind governance.
