N. Andhra teachers’ MLC verdict, a slap to coalition’s anti-people rule

Visakhapatnam, March 4: YSRCP Visakhapatnam District President and former Minister Gudivada Amarnath declared the North Andhra Teachers’ MLC election result a stinging rebuke to the coalition government’s anti-people policies. Addressing the media, he lambasted the coalition for its discriminatory stance toward North Andhra, asserting that teachers have dealt a powerful blow to its misrule. He accused coalition leaders of brazenly claiming the victorious PRTU candidate, Srinivasulu Naidu, as their own after their nominee, Raghuvarma, suffered a crushing defeat, despite TDP and Janasena’s overt support for Raghuvarma, evidenced by campaigns from leaders like Palla Srinivas, Rammohan Naidu, and Achchennaidu. Amarnath dared them to produce proof of backing Naidu, dismissing their flip-flop as laughable.
Labeling the coalition anti-employee, Amarnath said the result reflects widespread discontent within nine months, with teachers, 35% of the workforce, exposing its failures. He blamed Education Minister Nara Lokesh for ignoring their plight, noting unfulfilled promises like PRC formation, interim relief, DA arrears, pension clarity, and Rs. 26,000 crore in dues, alongside erratic salary disbursements. He further criticized the coalition’s neglect of North Andhra, contrasting its Rs. 6,000 crore Amaravati allocation with zero funds for Visakhapatnam, the so-called financial capital. The loss of Rishikonda Beach’s Blue Flag status underlines this ineptitude, unlike YSRCP’s legacy of projects like Bhogapuram Airport and Uddanam’s kidney center. Amarnath cautioned that governance masked as vendetta invites such setbacks and urged the coalition to abandon its “Red Book” tactics and honor its pledges.
