High Court orders CBI probe on illegal arrest

Guntur, Sep 26: YSRCP Legal Cell State President Manohar Reddy said the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s decision to hand over the illegal arrest case of social media activist Savindra Reddy to the CBI has exposed the coalition government’s misuse of the police force.
Addressing media in Guntur, he said the court relied on CCTV footage and geo-location data to confirm Savindra’s abduction by police in broad daylight, while they shamelessly denied his custody in court. “This unprecedented step of transferring the probe to the CBI proves the police were caught red-handed. The Home Minister and DGP must resign immediately,” Manohar Reddy demanded.
He warned that if police continue to act like lawbreakers instead of law protectors, they will face serious consequences. “The Savindra Reddy case is a reminder that even police cannot escape the law if they commit crimes,” he asserted.
Highlighting the wider trend of suppression, he said another activist, Tarak Pratap Reddy, was also illegally arrested and charged under sections meant for terrorists, merely for questioning the government on urea shortage.
“This dangerous pattern shows the coalition fears dissent. The High Court’s order is a victory for democracy and a warning against abuse of power,” Manohar Reddy said.
