Visakhapatnam, August 23: Former Minister and YSRCP Regional Coordinator Gudivada Amarnath said the Chandrababu government was trying to divert attention from the Mega DSC controversy instead of answering the evidence placed before the public. He reiterated Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s challenge for CBI investigations into both Mega DSC-2025 and APPSC recruitments, saying there should be no hesitation if the government truly believes both processes can withstand scrutiny.
Amarnath said serious questions remain over 372 Sports Quota appointments made without the regular DSC examination, questionable sports certificates, money-for-job audio and video material, and the Rank-1 controversy involving an outsourced employee. He said the government could not defend DSC in the Assembly and then avoid detailed scrutiny in the Legislative Council.
He criticised Chandrababu’s Anakapalli visit as event management at a time when farmers were facing drought, crop distress and unpaid dues. With only about 5,000 hectares out of 56,000 hectares under paddy cultivation in Anakapalli, he demanded immediate drought declaration and relief.
Amarnath also challenged Lokesh’s claim that data centres would create 1.80 lakh jobs, saying the government was offering vast land and incentives without explaining employment potential, water requirement, power demand or environmental impact. With nearly 10 GW of data-centre capacity being proposed, he asked how Visakhapatnam could support such projects when the city itself was facing severe water stress.
He further warned that reducing Polavaram’s project level would threaten water security for Visakhapatnam and North Andhra. He demanded payment of ₹36 crore dues to Govada Sugar Factory farmers, protection of the factory, and clarity on its future.
Amarnath said the English-speaking confidence of government-school students was the outcome of Y.S. Jagan’s education reforms, and declared that YSRCP would contest every local-body seat on its own and would not retreat from the political battle.
