Amaravati: A Cabinet sub-committee will be formed to probe into irregularities that had taken place in the Power sector during the TDP regime. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy observed that the TDP government had resorted to a massive scam resulting in the loss of Rs 2,636 crore to the exchequer. Hence the said committee.
The Chief Minister arrived at this decision during a review meet he held with officials of the Power and Energy sectors in which Energy Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy and other senior officials participated on Wednesday.
He affirmed that no one would be spared the officials, ministers concerned and even the former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.YS Jagan pointedly asked officials why power was bought at exorbitant prices, which were much more than the then competitive bidding prices. Therefore, a Cabinet sub-committee would be formed into look into corrupt deals, and ACB, CID and Enforcement Directorate would investigating the same, he said.
Stating that irregularities had also taken place in wind and solar energy purchasing agreements, he told officials to ensure that the loss would be recovered. If need be, he said an officers committee should relook at the agreements that were inked in the past. If the power and energy companies do not fall in line, he told them to annul the existing agreements.
