Attack on Ambati is an attack on democracy: Bhumana
01 Feb 2026 4:15 PM

Tirupati, Feb 1: YSR Congress Party leader and former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy staged a sit-in protest on the road near his residence in Padmavathi Puram, strongly condemning the attack on former minister Ambati Rambabu. He termed the incident a direct attack on democracy and said the assault on a senior leader with a good reputation across both Telugu states was “heinous and shameful.” He stated that mobs descended on Rambabu’s house “like raging bulls,” attempted to kill him, vandalised his property, and tried to endanger his life despite Rambabu having already clarified his earlier remarks.
Karunakar Reddy criticised the use of abusive language against Rambabu as disgraceful and said even after explanations were given, the attackers damaged his home and belongings. He questioned how those in government could act so irresponsibly and said it was alarming that such violence occurred in the presence of police. He stated the attackers were acting with revenge and hatred like a “killer gang.” He further said that the ruling coalition is deliberately installing flex banners across mandals over the laddu controversy and conspiring to target Kapu leaders through planned political attacks.
