Tadepalli, September 9: A delegation of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Employees Union (AP–AITUC) met former Chief Minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli today and submitted a representation.
The employees expressed serious concerns over G.O. No. 23 issued by the coalition government, which seeks to hand over 22 hotels and resorts of the Tourism Development Corporation to private players. They explained that nearly 504 contract employees and 488 outsourcing staff have been serving the Corporation for over two decades, but the new move has pushed their job security into uncertainty. The employees lamented that privatizing tourism assets would not only endanger their livelihoods but also throw hundreds of families onto the streets.
Assuring them of his party’s support, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that YSRCP firmly stands by the contract and outsourcing employees of the Tourism Department. He promised to examine the matter brought to his notice and work towards ensuring justice for the workers.
