Naidu betrayed Employees, fails to deliver IR, DA, PRC

Tadepalli, Sep 13: MLC Parvathareddy Chandrashekhar Reddy has strongly condemned the deliberate neglect and betrayal of employees and teachers by the present coalition government. Despite repeated promises, the government has failed to release Interim Relief (IR), withheld four DAs, and forced the resignation of the 12th PRC Commission formed in 2023. This unprecedented denial has left Andhra Pradesh as the only state in the country where four DAs remain pending. Even Chandrababu Naidu admitted arrears of Rs. 21,980 crore in the Assembly, but under his watch the burden has now ballooned to Rs. 30,000 crore.
By contrast, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government stood by employees even in crisis. Despite a Rs. 66,000 crore revenue loss due to Covid-19, his very first cabinet approved 27% IR, followed by a 23% PRC hike, and cleared 12 DAs without delay. Salaries, pensions, and welfare never stopped even for a single day. Major reliefs were extended: 53,000 RTC staff were merged into government service, 10,000 new medical staff recruited, 10,117 contract employees covered under the 11th PRC, inter lecturers’ salaries raised from Rs. 37,100 to ₹57,100, contract lecturers paid 12 months instead of 10, and GO 114 issued to regularize employees. Further, 1.36 lakh Secretariat jobs were created, sanitation workers’ wages doubled, retirement age increased to 62, and women employees were given extended childcare leave of 180 days with additional special leave.
In education, Nadu-Nedu transformed schools with toilets, drinking water, and infrastructure. 516 schools were brought under CBSE, with another 1000 in progress, and 25,000 teacher promotions were granted in five years.
But the coalition government has systematically dismantled these reforms. It has failed to regularize contract lecturers, delayed the Mega DSC recruitment, moved to scrap AP COS affecting 93,000 outsourcing staff, rolled back Nadu-Nedu, and even withdrawn intermediate courses in rural colleges. Teachers and employees, once empowered, are now victims of apathy and betrayal.
