'YSRCP demands probe into encounter'

Hyderabad, YSR Congress has demanded an inquiry by a High Court sitting judge into the encounter at Seshachalam forest in which at least 20 labourers were killed.“The encounter has come close on the heels of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu camping at Tirupati last night and the gravity of the incident demands a thorough inquiry. We are not against police taking action against the smuggling of red sanders but the sequence of events do not point towards that as those who were killed are poor farm labourers,” party spokesperson Vaisereddy Padma told reporters here on Tuesday.
Home Minister announcing that 20 persons were killed in an encounter in a casual manner is highly objectionable and the facts leading to the encounter should be probed by a sitting High Court judge.
“It is not established whether or not the labourers were carrying arms with them and if police fired in self defence or not but the Home Minister states that 20 persons were killed in two major encounters. The situation has to be explained and facts need to come out and we demand that issue should be probed by a sitting High Court judge,” she said.
