The NIA also mentioned

Vijayawada: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has confirmed in its report that the attack on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was specifically intended to murder him. In a detailed report submitted in the charge sheet, the NIA said that Srinivasa Rao alias Chanti, had attacked YS Jagan and aimed for his neck, and in the process when the leader turned he was hurt above his left arm. The Accused No 1 on the pretext of taking a selfie had entered the VIP lounge in the Visakhapatnam airport, even though ordinary people had no access to the place.

The NIA also mentioned that the accused was looking for an appropriate moment to carry out his murderous attack. It was a pre-meditated plan and for this he had even procured a knife which was used in cock fights. He got the knife from a village near his place and he had confessed to these details during the interrogation period conducted between January 12 and 18, which the NIA told the Special Court .

Legalities

The NIA also said that these actions are illegal and attract Section 3A(1)(a) of the Civil Aviation Act (The Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982 ) and also under Section 307 of the IPC for attempt to murder, it requested the Special Court to consider this case for further investigation by NIA.

The NIA also stated that they had sent a formal letter to the Centre to prosecute the accused under the Civil Aviation act. Once the formal permission is received they said that they would intimate the court also.

With regard to details as to who is behind the conspiracy, under whose influence Srinivasa Rao committed the act and other aspects of the case, these would be investigated under Section 173(8) of the CrPC. A detailed summary of all this information was submitted by the Chief Investigation Officer Mohd Sajid Khan on January 23 to the Special Court. All the details, evidence and documents were collated in the charge sheet which came to around 9 pages and presented to the court. The Special court is yet to assign a Provisional Criminal Number (PRC) to the case.

Access to airport VIP Lounge

Srinivasa Rao was given access to the Vizag airport by the Fusion Foods management and the entry pass was extended from time to time. It came to light that Srinivasa Rao had hidden many vital facts in the case and this was not investigated thoroughly by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the AP government.

It was also learnt that Srinivasa Rao was keeping a keen watch on YS Jagan's movements during his Padayatra time in North Andhra and also kept tab as to how frequently he visited the Viskhapatnam airport to go to Hyderabad. He had plotted to kill YS Jagan during one of these visits by using the knife which he had procured earlier.

He asked a lady who was working as a cashier in Fusion Foods to help him get an opportunity to meet the YSRCP party men so that he could request for a selfie with YS Jagan.

She told him that YS Jagan was coming to the airport on October 25 and he could go and take a selfie on that day.

Srinivasa Rao wore the Fusion Foods uniform and concealed the weapon behind a water bottle and went towards YS Jagan. He came and stood behind his left side and at the opportune moment he attacked YS Jagan and in the process he hurt YS Jagan's arm. Immediately the Protocol officers, local police and the CISF officials came and caught hold of Srinivasa Rao and took him to the International Security Hold Area (SHI). All of this was evidenced by the NIA during interrogation.
