Hyderabad, Aug 28, 2013: Criticising TDP leaders for their uncharitable remarks on Party Honorary President YS Vijayamma’s Delhi tour, YSR Congress has said N Chandrababu Naidu should first spell out his stand clearly before undertaking any mass contact programme.
“TDP leaders attributing motives to YS Vijayamma’s Delhi visit is uncalled for and they should first ask their leader to spell out his stand first before embarking on any Yatra, failing which he will be having no moral right to step on to the region that is on boil,” Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Wednesday.
Trying to pick holes in the Delhi visit of our Party delegation is nothing but attempting to gain cheap publicity as our party leaders had met the President and Prime Minister with a request to do equal justice to both the regions failing which maintain status quo.
“TDP has been propagating that the trip is meant for ensuring bail to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is not the President or Prime Minister who grants bail. The Supreme Court has asked the CBI to expedite the investigation before September 9 after which Jagan Mohan Reddy will be eligible for bail and law will take its own course and we respect the judiciary,” he said.
The distorted versions of TDP leaders carry no weight as the Party President himself has no clarity on issue. While he has given the green signal for division, his MPs and other leaders are exhibiting theatrics in Delhi and places.
Their remarks that we have an understanding with Congress have no meaning. In that case why YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should be in jail for over 15 months, he said. They should first ask their leader to make his stand clear on the bifurcation issue.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on the other hand, though in judicial custody, has undertaken indefinite fast demanding to maintain status quo if justice cannot be done to both the regions.
YS Vijayamma and other leaders have also held dharna at Jantar Mantar which has attracted national focus while Naidu has been maintaining stoic silence or mumbling incoherent statements on the issue.
“Without withdrawing the letter he has given to the Centre agreeing for the division, Naidu has no moral right to undertake Yatra of any kind and cannot step on to Seemandhra region which is on the boil. Though there have been large-scale protests across Seemandhra, Naidu has been mum and as Leader of Opposition he is not clear on his stand and his Party’s stand.
TDP leaders in Telangana region have a different slogan to those of the other region and Naidu’s stoic silence adds to the confusion.
Our stand is clear and unambiguous. What we need is equal justice to both the regions. No region should feel it is the victor and no region should think it is vanquished. This is our philosophy and the Centre should work out an arrangement to this effect, he said.
Without clearing the apprehensions and without working out any viable and working solution, the Centre cannot go for bifurcation and if it cannot find such a path, we demand that status quo should be maintained, he said.
Dragging YSR into the issue is another wasteful exercise as it was explained umpteen number of times that he was for a balanced regional growth. TDP leaders have no moral right to criticise YSR and his family members.
Instead they should take to task Chandababu Naidu and seek clarifications on the bifurcation issues and they need not resort to histrionics at Delhi and other places, he said.
