Speaker: Jagan Mohan Reddy -Mar3,2012

YSR Congress Party President, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said the ruling Congress and Opposition TDP are trying their best to avert any possibility of the emergence of a third force but, he asserted, ‘we are here to prevail.”
Kicking off the by-poll campaign for the Kovur by-election here, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that YSR Congress has emerged to uphold values and accountability in politics, as the present political system, after the death of YSR, has degraded to an all-time low.
“The ruling Congress and TDP have ganged up as they are resolute to have a bi-polar political system in the state and wanted to share power in turns. Obviously they will be against any third force to emerge as they have scant respect to values and accountability,” he said in his address on the first day of the three day electioneering.
The by-election is not a battle between two parties or two persons or two groups but it is a fight between values and accountability on one side and a degraded political system which has no concern for the farmers and poor sections of the society on the other, Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was accompanied by party candidate N Prasanna Kumar Reddy, said atop the campaign vehicle.
After the death of YSR, the values and systems in politics have come down and is at the rock bottom, and the by-election was necessitated with Prasanna Kumar Reddy quitting his post and joining YSR Congress to uphold the best practices and value system in politics.
Ruling party may misuse official machinery and lure the voters in many ways but YSR Congress stands for values and accountability in politics and a vote to our party is a vote for farmers and poorer sections of the society, that have been under neglect by the Congress government.
The by-poll result, he said, should be loud and clear so that the State Congress and its Delhi bosses can understand as to what it means to neglect people and development works, he said.
While the ruling party has been apathetic towards the problems of farmers and poorer sections, TDP instead of playing a constructive role has ganged up with Congress and perhaps for the first time in the history of the country, the treasury and opposition parties are working in tandem, he said.
Earlier, he arrived at Kavali by Simhadri Express to a rousing welcome. He later stopped for a brief while at an Engineering College as a large number of students had cheered the young leader.
He asked them if they had received fees reimbursement and the response was an overwhelming no and when he asked if scholarships for the current year were given the reply was the same.
Thus began the campaign trail of Jagan Mohan Reddy in the district.
The YSRC President, who has a busy schedule, will be covering 20 villages on the first day. He will visit Hindupurpeta on Tuesday and will address a string of meetings. He will round off the first phase of the three-day campaign on Wednesday.
