YSR Congress Party on Saturday said that it would
revive the Aarogyasri scheme and incorporate women and child welfare
into it, when it comes to power and flayed ruling Congress and
Opposition TDP for toeing the negative line to garner votes.
“Besides Aarogyasri the 104, 108 will be swung into action and special
focus will be laid on women and child welfare,” Party treasurer Kiran
Kumar Reddy told reporters on the occasion of the World Health Day.
The Congress Government has done away with the flagship welfare scheme
by not allotting sufficient funds and medicare has become a distant
dream for the poor, he said.
Describing Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy as a person with great vision and
concern towards the poor, Kiran Kumar Reddy, who worked closely with
YSR said, “when he was the chief minister, he used to seek even
minutest of the detail and after gathering enough data, he used to
evolve a plan. Aarogyasri is one such plan which has come out after a
process of interacting with poor people who used to come seeking money
from CM Relief Fund for treatment of ailments,” he said.
The present government has been distancing itself from the people by
scraping all the welfare schemes introduced by YSR, he said.
