Press Release
Tuni, Nov 7,
2012: YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma assured the
flood victims today that the party will take up their cause in the next
assembly session and strive to ensure that proper compensation is paid to them.
Vijayamma
demanded the Government to convene the assembly session immediately to discuss
the floods and relief measures.
Continuing her
tour of the flood-hit areas in the state for the third day on Wednesday,
Vijayamma has visited submerged colonies and crops in Ammaji Peta, Kankipati
Vari Daruvu, Rajiv Gruhakalpa and Kummarilova areas of East Godavari district
and inspected the inundated crops and residential colonies. She later addressed
flood victims at several locations in and around Tuni.
Vijayamma said
YSRCP would write to Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar with the details
of the crop and property loss and seeking compensation to the flood-victims.
After visiting
the flood-ravaged locations and talking to the victims on their problems,
Vijayamma slammed the Government for not initiating relief measures even after
four days of the natural calamity.
Flood victims
complained to Vijayamma that neither the local MP nor the MLA has visited them
despite the seriousness of the flood situation. “Police beat us and drove us
away when we went to meet the CM Kiran Kumar Reddy during his tour,” they told
her.
On the instructions
of Vijayamma, YSRCP rank and file brought blankets and distributed them to the
flood victims at Kummarilova. Vijayamma later left for Payakarao Pet of
Visakhapatnam district.
