YSRCP throws a challenge to TDP

Vijayawada: YSR Congress party's city unit working president Malladi Vishnu and city president Vellampalli Srinivas threw a challenge at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Speaking at the party's State office here, the leaders dared the TDP leaders to reduce the fuel prices and participate in the Bharath Bandh. Saying that the TDP government was charging an additional Rs 4 per litre of petrol and diesel, the two demanded immediate reduction of the taxes on fuel prices.

"After befriending the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre for four years, the TDP is now calling for a rollback on fuel prices along with the Congress. It is hilarious that the ruling party is maintaining cordial relations with both the BJP and the Congress. How would the TDP leaders take part in the Bandh without reducing the fuel prices themselves?" they asked.

The YSRCP leaders recalled that when the Centre increased the prices of the LPG gas cylinders, late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ensured that the state took on the burden of Rs 50 hike. On the other hand, in the last four years of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's rule, the gas cylinder's price increased from Rs 400 to Rs 850, they added.

"The YSRCP will continue to lead protests against the increasing fuel prices," they said.
