March 22, 2014: Reiterating that YSR has always looked beyond regional, political and
social equations and rolled out a plethora of welfare schemes to benefit all
sections of the society without imposing fresh taxes or increasing prices,
Sharmila has said, it is imperative to vote for YSR Congress to bring in a
welfare state.
Addressing a public meeting
as part of her electioneering here on Saturday, she said: “Others may come and
lure you with false promises but the past record shows that Chadnrababu Naidu
has never bothered about the poor and weaker sections and Kiran Kumar Reddy has
been harsh towards the people The duo has helped Delhi in the division of the
State.
We have to build our own
future and a vote for YSRCP in the municipal, MPTC, ZPTC, Assembly and Lok
Sabha elections will be a vote for development and welfare. You have to give
your verdict in favour of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has emulated all the
qualities of YSR and will strive for the welfare of poor with welfare schemes
and carry out development without taxing the common man.”
YSR during his five-year
term has shown what a welfare state would look like. For farmers he has started
Jalayagnam to bring an additional 1 crore acres under irrigation, waived loans
and interest on loans, made quality medicare available to the poor through
Aarogyasri scheme and started 108 ambulance service to ferry people to
hospitals. The 104 mobile hospitals went to villages to cater to the needs of
the rural poor, who could not afford to travel.
Students were happy with
the fees reimbursement scheme as many youngsters benefitted out of the scheme
across the state by getting into technical and higher education free of cost
and acquiring good jobs. Pavala vaddi scheme has brought economic empowerment
to women.
While Chandrababu Naidu has
given 16 lakh pensions, YSR has given a record 71 lakh pensions and has
increased it from Rs 75 to Rs 200. Chandrababu Naidu has increased the Rs 2 kg
rice to Rs 5.50 but YSR has provided rice at Rs 2 per kg even when the market
price was Rs 30 per kg.
YSR has also built record
number of houses other schemes like Abhaya Hastham, Employment Guarantee scheme
were carried out successfully.
He has taken up all these
activities without imposing any fresh taxes or increasing the tariff or charges
of public utilities. The LPG gas cylinder was Rs 305 when he came to power and
remained the same all through his five year term and till his death.
Kiran Kumar Reddy had
punctured all the welfare schemes of YSR and increased RTC bus fares, power
tariff was hiked to burden the consumer to a tune of Rs 32,000 crores and he
was very harsh in collecting the dues like Chandrababu Naidu.
The TDP leader did
not play his role of Leader of Opposition but has been helping Congress on many
counts. He issued a whip to save Kiran Kumar Reddy government when we moved a
no confidence motion.
In the state division as
well, the Centre got the muscle with the letter given by N Chandrababu Naidu and
divided the state into two.
The leaders, with such
dubious credentials will also come to seek votes. The performance of YSR which
will have a rerun under the stewardship of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy should be
compared with those elements that had no concern for the poor.
I appeal you to strengthen
the hands of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in all the ensuing elections and we will
shape our future in the new state.
