YS Jagan's open letter to Chandrababu

Hyderabad: YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy slammed the Chandrababu Naidu government for ignoring the plight of the farmers and the farm sector, especially in view of the incessent rains that are wreaking havoc over the last three days and said the Government is insensitive to the woes of the people.

In a stinging open letter to Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday, YS Jagan charged the Chief Minister with feigning Kumbhakarna's sleep over the issue of solving people's problems. The incessant rains have devastated 13 districts in general and Rayalaseema districts in particular. Paddy, groundnut, oil seeds, cotton, onion, chilli, bengal gram and castor farmers are in dire straits as rains have ravaged their crops. Yet, Chandrababu Naidu has no time to think of the farmers, students and the unemployed, he said. Referring to the flight of the farm sector, he said over 10 lakh acres of agricultural land remained uncultivated this Kharif and pointed out that this was mainly because the farmers could not secure loans.

YS Jagan said Chandrababu Naidu has achieved the dubious distinction of ensuring that the remunerative prices for the agricultural produce did not increase for three consecutive years. This is sounding a death knell to the farmers and the farm sector, he added. He said schemes like Pavala Vaddi, Zero Interest loans were watered down and the election promises like the farm and DWCRA loan waiver were wholly forgotten. The TDP government's failure to implement the loan waiver has made several farmers end their lives as they are not in a position to play the penalty for the loans obtained by them.
He called upon Chandrababu Naidu to introspect and address these pressing issues forthwith. He said it was time that Chandrababu Naidu change himself and his attitude to the people of the state.
