We Shall Fight Until Special Status Is Attained

New Delhi: The leader of opposition and YSRCP president YS Jagan, followed by YSRCP MPs, is meeting certain national leaders in New Delhi, seeking their support to their relentless struggle for the achievement of special status for AP. Later speaking to the media, YS Jagan called for unity in the direction of attaining special category status. He invited national level debate on the issue and made it clear that the party's fight would not be given up until the status was attained.
YS Jagan mentioned that the promises made in the parliament should be realised to ensure protection of democratic values and credibility on the parliament. He mentioned that YSRCP would continue to fight in the state, while meeting other parties' leaders for support on the other hand, in order to bring pressure on the parliament. YSRCP MPs Vijay Sai Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, YV Subbareddy, Vara Prasad, Butta Renuka and YS Avinash Reddy also met Sitaram Yechury, along with YS Jagan.
Speaking on this occasion, Sitaram Yechury remarked that there was no more a need for discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of sanctioning special category status to the state. He reminded that the parliament had promised special status to the state right at the time of birfurcation. He also recollected how Venkaiah Naidu responded to Manmohan Singh's suggestion of granting 5years of special status to the state by saying that it should be given for 10 years instead.
Sitaram mentioned that the status would be achieved only through struggle and extended complete support to YSRCP in the matter.
