Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma has expressed her deep
condolence over the death of legendary musician and Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi
Shankar.
Pandit Ravi Shankar,
who won the Bharat Ratna and the Grammy Award thrice for his astounding music,
carved a niche for himself in the music field and mesmerized the western world
with his classical music, she said in a statement.
Ravi Shankar, who rose
to the Himalayan heights in the field of music and brought international
recognition to the Hindustani music, left an irrevocable void to the music
field through his death, Smt. Vijayamma said, adding the world has lost the
king of music.
She conveyed her
profound sympathies to the bereaved family members.
