Sharmila asks farmers not to commit suicides

Guntur, Feb 26, 2013:
Smt. Y. S. Sharmila, who has been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra
on behalf of YSR Congress Party chief Sri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has made an
emotional appeal to farmers in Guntur district not to resort to suicides.

“Your lives are very
much needed to the state and the country. Don’t resort to the extreme step of
committing suicides and selling away your lands,” she told the farmers in
Guntur district during the course of her Padayatra on Monday.

Reacting to the stories
of suffering of chilly growers in Kachavaram, Inaparaju Pally, Gadevari Palle and
Takkellapadu villages in Macharla and Gurajala Mandals, she assured them that Jagan
Mohan Reddy would soon come out of the jail and bring in Rajanna Rajyam. “I
request you not to lose heart,” she told them with folded hands.

Earlier, several chilly
growers narrated their problems to her saying that they suffered heavy losses
in the last three years forcing farmers to commit suicides. “We are suffering
financially as there is no free power supply and remunerative prices to our
produce,” they told her.

Smt. Sharmila assured
them that, after forming the Government, Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy will restore free
power supply scheme besides constituting a Market Stabilization Fund with a
contingency fund of Rs.3000 Cr to help farmers get MSP for their agricultural
produce.

An
entire village benefited by YSR schemes

Earlier, all the
villagers of Gadevari Pally informed Smt. Sharmila at a Rachchabanda programme
that there was not even a single family in their village which was not
benefitted from the welfare schemes of Dr. YSR.
