No trust move against Speaker

Hyderabad, March 15: YSR Congress has given a no-confidence motion against Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on the grounds that his conduct was unfair and was letting down the main opposition.

‘We have supported his candidature for the high post and his conduct was like a TDP member and not impartial as the Chair is ought to be. We have also seen the undemocratic suspension of our Party MLA RK Roja and we have given the notice seeking no-confidence in the Speaker,’ Party MLA Sujay krishna Ranga Rao told media here on Tuesday.

We respect the Chair but the conduct of the incumbent has been blatantly in favour of the ruling party and the suspension of our Party MLA RK Roja for one year goes against the rule quoted in the House.

Legislative Affairs Minister, Y Ramakrishnudu had moved the motion to suspend our MLA under Sub-section (2) of rule 340 which has no provision for suspending any member from the House for one year and the Speaker had just nodded to the motion.

We protest against such decisions of the Speaker which are one-sided and gives no adequate representation to the Opposition Party and many times they are loaded in favour of TDP, the party to which he belongs to.

‘It is unfortunate that he is unable to look beyond party lines and we seek justice which has forced us to move this motion against the Speaker,’ he said.
