Naidu regime was a black chapter: Sharmila

Srikakulam, Aug 3,
2013: Charging that three thousand farmers had committed suicide during the
regime of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu unable to bear the victimization over
power bills payment, Smt. Y. S. Sharmila described his rule as a dark chapter.

Addressing a public meeting
at Korlam in Ichchapuram constituency of Srikakulam district during the course
of her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on Friday, she said Naidu has no
credibility of any sort as he had failed to implement his promises made to the
people before 1999 elections.

“He promised to offer
gold Mangalasutrams to women at the time of marriage, cash relief of Rs.5000 to
new born female babies, provide cycles to them for going to schools and free
education to all girls,” she said, adding Naidu simply forgot his promises
after coming to power.

During Naidu regime,
officials had victimized poor farmers who couldn’t pay their power bills and in
some instances women were also dragged to police stations for not paying the bills
in time, she had charged.

Asking people not to
believe Chandrababu Naidu and his promises, she said believing Naidu is like
digging one’s own grave.

It was YSR who ruled
the state like a father to all and implemented several welfare schemes
balancing them with the pace of development. She said Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress
Government has watered down all welfare schemes implemented by YSR. “The
Congress Government will pay a heavy price for its lapses in the next
elections,” she remarked.
