MLCs merger unfair: Konda Raghava Reddy

Hyderabad, Taking strong objection to the Telangana Legislative Council Chairman approving the merger of TDP MLCs with TRS, YSR Congress has said that this is against the spirit of parliamentary democracy.
“Though the matter concerns TDP and TRS, our firm view is that a merger can take place only between political parties and not MLCs as per the 10th schedule of the Constitution,” Party Telangana unit general secretary Konda Raghava Reddy told reporters here on Monday.
The accepted practice is that if a political party wants to merge with another party, the issue should be taken to the notice of the Election Commission to complete the process. But what the Chairman of Telangana Legislative Council has done is by issuing a bulletin that the TDP MLCs have merged with TRS is against the spirit of the Constitution. “Such act demeans the process of election,” he said.
When asked about the Party MLAs switching sides, he said, a notice has been served on turncoats and we will implead and seek disqualification of the two MLAs of our Party who crossed the floor.
