Smt. Y.S. Sharmila interacting with people at Rachapally in EG district on Wednesday

June 20, 2013: Smt. Y.S. Sharmila, who has been undertaking Maro Praja
Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress Party chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan
Reddy, asserted that Dr. Y.S.R. was the only Chief Minister who showed real
love and affection towards the emancipation of the STs in the state.
Interacting
with the tribal people at a Rachchabanda programme at Rachapally in Prathipadu
constituency of East Godavari district on Wednesday, Smt. Sharmila asked both
former CM Chandrababu Naidu and CM Kiran Kumar Reddy to spell out what they
have exactly done to the STs.
“If
I ask what Chandrababu Naidu has done to the STs during his nine-year tenure as
CM, can anyone say anything specific to me positively?” she asked. “Even the
present CM has taken up a publicity blitzkrieg to trumpet about the SC,ST sub
plan. But if I ask what he has done to the STs till now, can anyone cite
anything specific?” Smt. Sharmila queried.
Saying
both of them have done nothing for the welfare and emancipation of the STs,
Smt. Sharmila said they don’t have any real love towards the tribal people.
She
said it was YSR who gave ownership rights to the STs over 20 lakh acres of
agricultural land in an unprecedented manner. No other CM has done this prior
to YSR or in the post-YSR period, she declared.” YSR did this as he showed real
love and affection towards the STs in the state.” she observed.
The
Rachchabanda turned out to be complaints galore wherein the STs told her they
had been leading distressed lives without proper facilities of education,
healthcare and drinking water. The tribal women have also complained about the
lack of interest-free loans and non-implementation of Forest Rights Act brought
in by YSR.
