Guduru: Chandrababu Naidu requested the Central government against going ahead with the Dugarajapatnam Port, Leader of the Opposition in the AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
Addressing a public meeting as part of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra at Guduru Court Centre, on Sunday, he said scores of youth met him during the padayatra and spoke about the Dugarajapatnam Port. "Thousands of youth from Nellore and adjacent areas are eagerly awaiting the completion of Dugarajapatnam Port in the hope of getting employment. However, the latest message from the chief minister to the Central government against the Port has dashed the hopes of the people," YS Jagan said. "Completion of the Dugarajapatnam Port construction was an election promise of Chandrababu Naidu and after four years, the project is far from completion and may not take off at all," the YSRCP chief added.
"During the tenure of the former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the Krishnapatnam Port was completed within five years. Drinking water was supplied from Kandaleru to Guduru town by YSR. Compare that with the current tenure of the TDP government where the region is suffering from drinking water crisis. The Gudur constituency is known for lime cultivation in 40,000 acres. However, the farmers are only earning Rs 500 for 80 kgs of lime leaving them debt-ridden and in crisis. That speaks volumes of chief minister Chandrababu's concern for the farmers of Guduru," YS Jagan said.
