Happy Birthday YS Jagan

Sudden and tragic death of father during politically formative years….a party leadership oblivious to ground realities and hell-bent on crushing a blossoming new leadership… a wily adversary who gangs up with the internal enemy to send the rising star of Telugu politics to prison for 18 long months…a shock defeat at the hustings in 2014…A slew of cases whose aim is just to trouble and torment…..

Enough to crush any politician, but not YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for he is made of a sterner stuff. No politician in India may have charted course in such shark-ridden rough and turbulent sea of politics as YS Jagan did. But, YS Jagan continues to plod on. Today is his birthday – a time to celebrate with family in the cozy confines of cool home. But, he is out there celebrating his birthday with a family – a bigger family that his father bequeathed to him.

His tenacity, grit, determination and never-say-die derring do can best be exemplified by the current ‘walk yagna’ he is doing. The 3000-km, six-month-long Praja Sankalpa Yatra crisscrossing the state amid bone-chilling winter in the arid Rayalaseema terrain tells what YS Jagan is made of. He is out there on the roads, amid the poor, the marginalized and the uncared for at a time when the powers that be in AP are holidaying in the warm waterfronts of  island getaways in Maldives. But, that’s YS Jagan.

His newly-enunciated Nava Ratnalu exemplifies his socio-political philosophy that seeks a harmonious wedding of development with welfare. Drawing from the undying fountain of inspiration from his illustrious father Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy, YS Jagan moves on. The calendar changes, but not his determination and grit to work for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
